UCO(UNIFIED CYBER OLYMPIAD)


Why UCO?
India has seen a spectacular success in IT and computers which is acknowledged around the world. But computer education in our country is highly fragmented and without any common goal of platform. Realizing the huge importance of streamlined and competitive education in computers and IT and with a view to fortifying India's success, Unified Council is foraying into its Unified Cyber Olympiad.
It motivates children to strengthen their knowledge in mental ability, logical reasoning & computer knowledge. Proficiency in these areas will help every child to face the problems related to software solutions, management crises, lack of judgement and decision making .
Unified Cyber Olympiad(UCO), which will be held across the country with the following goals :
  • Streamlining computer education
  • Instilling competitiveness in computer education
  • Including logic, reasoning and mental ability in the learning process
  • Identifying talent and assessing students on a nationwide platform
  • Exposing students to the latest technology and study in computers

UCO will be conducted at two levels. The first level exam will be conducted in the respective school premises. 500 students from every class will be selected for the second level exam, which will be conducted at the nearest selected State Head Quarters/Main Towns.
Eligibility:
Student of classes 2, 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 & 10 are eligible to participate in this examination.

Exam Schedule:
Date of Examination : 07-09-2011 (Wednesday)
Time : 11:00 AM – 12:00 Noon

Exam Fee:
Rs. 100/- (Rupees Hundred only)
Students desirous of referring of Model Question Paper should add Rs. 40 for a set of 4 Model/Previous Q.P.

Exam Structure:
This exam will be conducted in two levels.
First level will be conducted in the school premises of the respective schools.
Second level for the top 500 students from each class will be conducted in the nearest selected State Head Quarters/Main Towns.

Exam Pattern:
The medium of the test will be English.
There will be a different question paper for each class.
All the questions are of the objective-type with no negative marking for wrong answers.

Division of Marks
  • Mental Ability : 15 marks
  • Reasoning : 15 marks
  • Computers : 15 marks
  • English : 5 marks
Note: The above pattern is applicable for 2 levels of exam.

Syllabus:
UCO question papers are more class specific than syllabus specific. Please refer the syllabus provided. Unified Cyber Olympiad question papers are suitable for students following CBSE / ICSE / ISC and various other State Board syllabi.

Scholarships & Awards:
Gold Medals & Cash Awards for the first 3 in each Class (Rank 1-3)
A. UCO-Topper will be awarded with Rs. 2, 00,000 cash prize*. The student who achieves the highest percentage of marks in among all the classes is declared as UCO Topper.

B. The top 3 rankers of UCO will be awarded with a netbook Laptop + a Memento+ a Medal.

C. Next 7 rankers of each class (Ranks 4-10) will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 1000 each.

D. The next 15 rankers of each class (Ranks 11-25) of classes II-X will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 500.

Top 100 rankers in each class will be awarded with 2 CD pack of Encyclopedia Britannica – Sudoku Unlimited and Encyclopedia of India- worth Rs. 990.

Top 100 rankers from Classes 2-5 will be awarded with Hand book of Science-Junior and Classes 6-10 will be awarded with IIT Foundation & Olympiad Explorer – Mathematics book.

All the top rankers from 1-100 will be awarded with a Medal and a certificate of appreciation. Participation Certificate and Cyber Diagnostic Report (CDR) for all the participants.

PRIZES FOR ZONE TOPPERS: 
Top 3 rankers in each Zone will be awarded with Encyclopedia Britannica – Sudoku Unlimited and Encyclopedia of India- worth Rs. 990 & certificates of appreciation.

Note: State wise ranks are declared after excluding the top 100 ranks across the country.

UCO Topper* The student who achieves 100% marks in any of the classes will be awarded with prize money of Rs.2, 00,000. If none of them achieves the same, then the student who achieves the highest percentage of marks among all the classes will be awarded with Rs.1, 00,000. If in case there is more than one student who achieves the same, the prize money will be distributed equally. Each topper will get either this prize or the regular prize (refer B).
Certificates & Reports:
For Students: Cyber Diagnostic Reports (CDR)
We provide Cyber Diagnostic Report (CDR) for individual students, which have the following details:
  • Subject wise - Skill wise performance graphical representation
  • Over all ranking in the National level
  • Group Highest mark
  • Group Average mark CDR provides a real feedback on real learning. It allows the students to know where he/she stands and pinpoints areas of strengths and weakness. This report is for feedback and improvement.
This Report is offered FREE of cost for all the students worth Rs. 50
For Schools: General School Cyber Diagnostic Report (GSCDR)
An extensive General School Cyber Diagnostic Report (GSCDR) will be forwarded ABSOLUTELY FREE to all participating schools. General School Cyber Diagnostic Reports (GSCDR) analyses the performance of students participating in the examination (subject-wise and class-wise). The report, in a graphical format which will have a Histogram Graph, is a useful tool for marking the areas of weaknesses by schools that wish to improve their students’ performance.
School Cyber Diagnostic Reports (SCDR) analyses the performance of your school students by segregating the questions for different skills (Subject wise and Class wise). This report acts as a tool for the schools to improve their students’ performance in the future by marking the areas of weaknesses. SCDR is also provided free of cost.

Merit/Participation Certificates:
Merit / Participation Certificates will be provided to all the participants on the basis of their performance.
Interpreting Results:
Ranking: When more than one student gets an equal top score, priority for awarding ranks will be according to the marks acquired in the following specified order of subjects: Mental Ability, Reasoning, Computers and English.
Institutional Awards:
Best Performance Award – School
One Best Performance School in each zone (16 zones) will be presented to the top performing schools. The principal and Teacher in-charge of the respective schools will be awarded with Best Contribution in Computer Education Award & Mobile
All the co-coordinating Teacher in-charges of the UCO will be awarded a certificate of appreciation.
Best Participation School:
Certificate of Appreciation will be presented to all the schools which forward more than 100 applications.
Any School that sponsors a minimum of 100 students will be receiving 2 CD pack Encyclopedia Britannica – Sudoku & Encyclopedia of India worth Rs. 990.
How to Apply:
Please send a single consolidated Demand Draft for the exam fee of all the students appearing for the UCO-2011 from your school.
D.D. should be drawn in favour of UNIFIED COUNCIL payable at Hyderabad.
Frame the list of students in the given format (preferably typed and send it to our address along with the D.D by Courier Service/Register post / Speed Post.

Note: Venue of the UCO will be respective schools only. There is no open center facility for above examination.
So we do not accept individual applications forms for UCO-2011. Students are requested to apply through respective schools only.
